Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of work-induced separation on the psychological well-being of spouses of military personnel. The unique occupational demands of military service often require personnel to be away from their families for extended periods, which can lead to significant challenges for their spouses. Understanding the psychological effects of work-induced separation is crucial for developing strategies to support the well-being of military families.
This study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data. The quantitative component will involve administering standardized psychological well-being measures to a sample of spouses of military personnel who have experienced work-induced separation. The qualitative component will consist of in-depth interviews with a subset of participants to gain a deeper understanding of their experiences and coping mechanisms.
The study aims to explore several key factors related to work-induced separation, including the duration and frequency of separations, communication patterns, social support, and coping strategies employed by spouses. The quantitative data will be analyzed using statistical techniques such as correlation and regression analysis to examine the relationships between work-induced separation and psychological well-being outcomes. The qualitative data will be analyzed using thematic analysis to identify common themes and patterns in the experiences of spouses.
The findings of this study will contribute to the existing literature by providing an in-depth understanding of the psychological impact of work-induced separation on spouses of military personnel. The results will inform the development of interventions and support programs aimed at promoting the psychological well-being of military families. By addressing the unique challenges faced by spouses during work-induced separations, policymakers, military organizations, and support services can enhance the overall resilience and mental health of military families.
Keywords: work-induced separation, psychological well-being, spouses, military personnel, military families.
