Such unethical media which can easily gets paid to broadcast mere political misinformation and phony information. They extensively indulge in sycophancy rather than facing reality and calling a spade a spade and going straight to the point. Because they are remote-controlled by the government and by those with power meaning wealth or is influential, they are at their whims and caprices, such that they praise-sing unnecessarily a failed present government.

Corruption has made it almost impossible for the media to do anything free so as to achieve certain goals, just for the interest of the poor voiceless masses won’t get free press. Money and power have taken charge of media in Nigeria and the like nations, thus media ethics are grossly compromised, abused and trampled on with impunity. It is this basis that the researcher examines the challenges facing the Abuja media houses is facing in promoting good governance in Nigeria.

1.3     Objective of the study

The main goal and objective of this study is to examine the challenges of the Abuja media houses when it comes to the promoting good governance in Nigeria. Specifically, the study intends to achieve the following objectives:

  1. To examine the role the media plays in the promotion of good governance in Nigeria;
  2. To examine the awareness of the Nigerian journalists (Abuja) on the issue which media corruption;
  3. To assess the public opinion(s) concerning the Abuja media and good governance;
  4. To settle on measures or techniques that could be taken in order to curtail corrupt practices in the media.

The research will be guided by the following research questions:

  1. There is no major connection between the roles of the Abuja media and the promotion good governance in Nigeria;
  2. There is no significant relationship between public opinion(s) concerning the Nigerian media and good governance;
  3. There is no significant relationship between the opinion(s) of the public and the Nigerian media and good governance;
  4. There significant relationship between measures that could be taken and curbing corrupt practices in the media starting with Abuja media stations.

1.6     Scope of the Study

The study adopts the social responsibility and agenda setting ideas of the mass media to access the goals and objective of the research which is an examination of the challenges the

Abuja media is facing in promoting good governance in our beloved country Nigeria.
