Nigeria, like many other countries, has witnessed a rising awareness of domestic violence and its devastating consequences on victims, families, and society at large. Lagos State, being one of the most populous and economically vibrant regions in Nigeria, has played a pivotal role in spearheading legal initiatives to combat domestic violence. The Domestic Violence Law of Lagos State was enacted to provide legal protection, support services, and remedies for victims of domestic violence.
This critical analysis explores the key provisions of the Domestic Violence Law of Lagos State, examining its strengths and weaknesses in addressing the issue.
