APPRAISAL OF INVENTORY CONTROL IN A MANUFACTURING COMPANY (A CASE STUDY OF SEVEN – BOTTLING COMPANIES).

Abstract:
Effective inventory control is crucial for manufacturing companies, as it directly impacts their operational efficiency and financial performance. This study aims to evaluate the inventory control practices employed by seven bottling companies and assess their effectiveness in optimizing inventory levels, reducing costs, and improving overall operational performance.

The research methodology involves a case study approach, focusing on seven bottling companies operating in the manufacturing industry. Data collection methods include interviews, surveys, and analysis of relevant company documents. Key performance indicators such as inventory turnover ratio, carrying costs, stockouts, and customer satisfaction will be used to assess the inventory control practices of the selected companies.

The study will investigate various aspects of inventory control, including demand forecasting, order quantity determination, lead time management, and safety stock policies. It will also explore the use of technology and information systems in inventory management, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, barcode scanning, and real-time tracking tools.

The findings of this study will provide valuable insights into the current inventory control practices employed by the bottling industry. It will assess the strengths and weaknesses of the companies’ inventory control systems, identify areas for improvement, and recommend best practices for enhancing inventory management efficiency.

The significance of this study lies in its potential to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on inventory control in the manufacturing sector. It will offer practical recommendations for the bottling companies to optimize their inventory control processes, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction. Additionally, the study will serve as a reference for other manufacturing companies seeking to enhance their inventory management practices.
