EVALUATION OF PETROPHYSICAL PROPERTIES IN THE AK FIELD OF THE NIGER DELTA PROVINCE OF NIGERIA USING INTEGRATED DATA

Abstract:
The Niger Delta Province of Nigeria is renowned for its significant hydrocarbon reserves, making it a crucial area for oil and gas exploration and production. Accurate evaluation of petrophysical properties plays a vital role in understanding reservoir characteristics, estimating hydrocarbon reserves, and optimizing production strategies.

This study focuses on the AK Field, located within the Niger Delta Province, and aims to evaluate petrophysical properties using an integrated data approach. The integrated data approach combines various sources of information, including well logs, core data, seismic data, and production data, to achieve a comprehensive understanding of reservoir properties.

The study begins by reviewing the available well logs, which provide important petrophysical measurements such as porosity, permeability, water saturation, and lithology. Core data analysis is conducted to validate the well log interpretations and provide a more accurate representation of the reservoir rock properties.

Seismic data, including 2D and 3D seismic surveys, are utilized to map the subsurface structures, identify potential hydrocarbon reservoirs, and estimate their extent and geometry. The seismic interpretation is integrated with the well log and core data to refine the petrophysical property evaluations.

Additionally, production data analysis is performed to assess the performance of existing wells, identify production trends, and predict reservoir behavior. The production data, combined with the petrophysical evaluations, help optimize field development plans and enhance recovery strategies.

The integrated data approach allows for a more comprehensive evaluation of petrophysical properties in the AK Field, facilitating a better understanding of reservoir characteristics and improving decision-making in exploration and production activities. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the overall knowledge of the Niger Delta Province’s hydrocarbon potential and support the sustainable development of its oil and gas resources.
