CLOUD COMPUTING ADOPTION IN NIGERIA UNIVERSITIES: A CONCEPTUALIZED MODEL BASED ON STAKEHOLDER PERCEPTIONS

Abstract:
Cloud computing has emerged as a transformative technology in the field of information technology, offering numerous benefits such as improved scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. This abstract presents a conceptualized model for cloud computing adoption in Nigeria universities, with a focus on stakeholder perceptions.

Nigeria, as an emerging economy, is witnessing rapid growth in the adoption of digital technologies across various sectors, including higher education. However, the adoption of cloud computing in Nigerian universities still faces challenges, including limited resources, infrastructure constraints, and concerns about data security and privacy.

To address these challenges, this conceptualized model proposes a comprehensive framework that incorporates the perceptions of key stakeholders involved in the cloud computing adoption process. The stakeholders include university administrators, faculty members, IT staff, students, and policymakers.

The model emphasizes the importance of understanding stakeholder perceptions and their influence on the decision-making process. It takes into account various factors such as perceived benefits, risks, trust, and organizational readiness to adopt cloud computing. The model also considers the socio-cultural context of Nigeria, including factors such as digital literacy levels, infrastructure availability, and regulatory frameworks.

The proposed model utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative research methods. Qualitative data collection techniques, such as interviews and focus group discussions, are employed to explore stakeholder perceptions, concerns, and expectations regarding cloud computing adoption. Quantitative surveys are used to gather data on stakeholders’ attitudes, intentions, and readiness to adopt cloud computing.

The findings from this study will contribute to the body of knowledge on cloud computing adoption in the context of Nigerian universities. The model will provide valuable insights for university administrators and policymakers to make informed decisions about cloud computing adoption strategies. It will also assist in developing appropriate policies, guidelines, and training programs to address the identified barriers and facilitate successful implementation.

Overall, this conceptualized model offers a holistic approach to understanding and addressing the challenges associated with cloud computing adoption in Nigerian universities. By considering stakeholder perceptions, the model aims to facilitate a smoother transition towards cloud-based solutions, enabling universities to leverage the benefits of cloud computing for enhanced teaching, research, and administrative processes.
