Abstract:
Protein intake plays a crucial role in optimizing sports performance and enhancing athletic training outcomes. This abstract aims to summarize the current scientific understanding of the effects of different types of protein intake on sports performance.

Athletes and individuals engaged in regular physical activity often have higher protein requirements than sedentary individuals due to increased muscle protein turnover and the need for muscle repair and growth. Various types of protein sources, including animal-based proteins (e.g., meat, dairy) and plant-based proteins (e.g., legumes, soy, quinoa), have been studied in relation to sports performance.

Animal-based proteins are typically considered complete proteins, as they contain all essential amino acids required by the body. These proteins are well-known for their high biological value and superior digestibility, leading to enhanced muscle protein synthesis and recovery. Additionally, animal-based proteins are often rich in leucine, an essential amino acid known to stimulate muscle protein synthesis.
