AN EVALUATION OF FINTECH PERFORMANCE IN HIGHER LEVEL OF FINANCIAL INCLUSION AS A NATIONAL POLICY.

Abstract:

Financial inclusion, defined as the access and usage of affordable financial services, is a crucial driver of economic growth and poverty reduction. With the rapid advancement of financial technology (fintech), governments worldwide have recognized its potential to enhance financial inclusion and have adopted it as a national policy objective. This study aims to evaluate the performance of fintech in achieving higher levels of financial inclusion as a national policy.

The evaluation begins by exploring the concept of financial inclusion and its significance for individuals and the overall economy. It then examines the role of fintech in improving financial inclusion by leveraging technological innovations such as mobile banking, digital payments, and alternative credit scoring. The study reviews existing literature on the impact of fintech interventions on financial inclusion indicators, such as account ownership, access to credit, and usage of formal financial services.

Furthermore, the evaluation analyzes the implementation of fintech policies in various countries to identify successful strategies and best practices. It examines the regulatory frameworks and institutional arrangements that facilitate fintech development and assesses the effectiveness of government initiatives in promoting fintech adoption and usage among underserved populations.

The study also considers potential challenges and risks associated with fintech adoption in the context of financial inclusion. It examines issues such as data privacy, cybersecurity, and the digital divide, which may hinder the equitable distribution of fintech benefits.

To conduct the evaluation, a mixed-methods approach is employed. Quantitative analysis is used to assess the impact of fintech interventions on financial inclusion indicators, utilizing data from national surveys, financial institutions, and fintech providers. Qualitative analysis involves interviews and focus group discussions with key stakeholders, including policymakers, regulators, fintech entrepreneurs, and consumers.

The findings of this study contribute to the existing body of knowledge on fintech and financial inclusion by providing a comprehensive evaluation of fintech performance as a national policy. The results will help policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders understand the strengths, weaknesses, and potential areas for improvement in fintech interventions aimed at achieving higher levels of financial inclusion. The study’s recommendations will inform evidence-based policymaking and assist in designing effective strategies to enhance financial inclusion through fintech innovation.
