Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the influence of school facilities on the academic achievement of public secondary school students in Lagos State. The availability and quality of school facilities play a crucial role in shaping the learning environment and, consequently, the academic performance of students. Therefore, understanding the relationship between school facilities and academic achievement is essential for educational policymakers and school administrators.
The research adopts a quantitative research design, utilizing a survey questionnaire to collect data from a sample of public secondary school students in Lagos State. The questionnaire focuses on assessing the availability and adequacy of various school facilities, such as classrooms, libraries, laboratories, computer rooms, sports facilities, and sanitation facilities. Academic achievement is measured by considering students’ examination scores, grades, and overall academic performance.
Data analysis involves statistical techniques, including descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The findings of this study are expected to reveal the extent to which school facilities influence the academic achievement of public secondary school students in Lagos State. Furthermore, the study examines whether specific facilities have a more significant impact than others.
The results of this research will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the role of school facilities in academic achievement. Additionally, the findings will provide insights for educational policymakers and school administrators to identify areas that require improvement in terms of school facilities. By understanding the relationship between school facilities and academic achievement, policymakers can make informed decisions and allocate resources effectively to enhance the learning environment and overall educational outcomes of students.
