Abstract:
This abstract explores the availability and effective use of Management Information Systems (MIS) by secondary school teachers in Nigeria and its impact on task performance. Education systems worldwide increasingly recognize the importance of utilizing technology to enhance administrative tasks and improve the overall efficiency of educational institutions. MIS, as a comprehensive system, plays a crucial role in managing and processing information related to various aspects of school management.

In the Nigerian context, secondary school teachers face numerous challenges in executing their tasks effectively, such as manual record-keeping, inefficient communication channels, and limited access to up-to-date information. The utilization of MIS can address these challenges by providing a centralized platform for data management, communication, and decision-making processes.

This abstract investigates the availability of MIS infrastructure in secondary schools across Nigeria and explores the extent to which teachers effectively use MIS for task performance. The study also examines the factors that hinder or facilitate the effective use of MIS by teachers, including technological infrastructure, training and support, and teachers’ attitudes towards technology adoption.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, incorporating both quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. The survey will gather data on the availability of MIS infrastructure, teachers’ awareness and utilization of MIS, and their perceptions of the system’s impact on task performance. The interviews will provide in-depth insights into teachers’ experiences and perspectives regarding MIS usage.

The findings of this research will contribute to the existing literature by shedding light on the current state of MIS adoption and its effectiveness in Nigerian secondary schools. The outcomes will inform policymakers, school administrators, and education stakeholders about the importance of investing in MIS infrastructure, training, and support to enhance task performance among secondary school teachers.

Ultimately, it is anticipated that this study will provide valuable recommendations to improve the availability, utilization, and effectiveness of MIS in Nigerian secondary schools, leading to enhanced administrative efficiency, improved communication, and better overall task performance among teachers.
