Abstract:
This study aims to assess the availability and impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) resources on basic science learning in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. With the rapid advancement of technology and its increasing integration into education, it is crucial to examine how ICT resources influence the learning outcomes of students in the field of basic science.

The research will adopt a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. A survey questionnaire will be administered to a representative sample of basic science teachers and students in selected schools across the FCT region. The questionnaire will assess the availability and utilization of ICT resources, such as computers, internet connectivity, educational software, and interactive multimedia tools, in the teaching and learning of basic science.

In addition to the survey, interviews and focus group discussions will be conducted with teachers, students, and educational administrators to gather in-depth insights into their experiences and perceptions regarding the influence of ICT resources on basic science learning. The qualitative data will provide a rich understanding of the challenges, opportunities, and potential benefits associated with integrating ICT resources into the classroom.

The collected data will be analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The quantitative analysis will examine the relationships between the availability and utilization of ICT resources and students’ academic performance in basic science. The qualitative analysis will involve thematic coding and interpretation to identify patterns, themes, and key findings arising from the qualitative data.

The findings of this study will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the role of ICT resources in basic science education. The research outcomes will inform policymakers, educators, and relevant stakeholders about the current status of ICT resources in the FCT schools and their influence on basic science learning. The study’s recommendations will provide insights into enhancing the integration and effective use of ICT resources to improve students’ learning outcomes in basic science education in the FCT, Abuja, and potentially serve as a basis for further research in this area.
