Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted educational systems worldwide, including universities in Cross River State. As a result, tertiary institutions have been compelled to adopt innovative educational teaching technologies to ensure the continuity of learning while prioritizing the health and safety of students, lecturers, and staff. This study aims to assess the compliance rate of lecturers with COVID-19 safety protocols in universities in Cross River State, specifically focusing on the utilization of innovative educational teaching technologies.

The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data collection through surveys and qualitative data collection through interviews and observations. A sample of lecturers from various universities in Cross River State will be selected to participate in the study. The survey questionnaire will gather data on lecturers’ awareness and understanding of COVID-19 safety protocols, their perception of the effectiveness of innovative teaching technologies, and their compliance and adherence to these protocols.

Additionally, interviews will be conducted with selected lecturers to obtain in-depth insights into their experiences, challenges, and perceptions regarding the integration of innovative teaching technologies and adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols. Observations will also be made to assess the actual implementation of safety measures during lectures.

The collected data will be analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The findings will provide an assessment of lecturers’ compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols and their utilization of innovative educational teaching technologies. The study will identify potential barriers and facilitators to compliance and explore lecturers’ attitudes towards the integration of technology in the teaching and learning process during the pandemic.

The results of this study will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the effectiveness of innovative educational teaching technologies in ensuring compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols among lecturers in Cross River State universities. The findings will inform policymakers, university administrators, and educators on the need for continuous training and support for lecturers in adopting and implementing these technologies effectively, thereby promoting a safer learning environment for all stakeholders.
