Abstract:
The phenomenon of internal displacement has become a pressing issue in several regions worldwide, including Plateau State in Nigeria. Internally displaced women face numerous challenges, including limited access to education, employment opportunities, and economic self-reliance. Vocational training programs have been identified as a potential solution to empower displaced women, enhance their skills, and improve their socio-economic conditions. This study aims to investigate the impact of vocational training on internally displaced women in Plateau State.
The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis and qualitative interviews. A sample of internally displaced women who have participated in vocational training programs will be selected using purposive and snowball sampling techniques. Data will be collected through structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Quantitative data will be analyzed using statistical software, while qualitative data will be thematically analyzed.
The study will assess the socio-economic status of internally displaced women before and after participating in vocational training programs, considering factors such as income generation, employment opportunities, and self-esteem. Additionally, it will explore the challenges faced by displaced women in accessing vocational training and identify the factors contributing to successful outcomes.
The anticipated findings of this study will provide insights into the effectiveness of vocational training programs in empowering internally displaced women in Plateau State. The research will contribute to the existing literature on the socio-economic rehabilitation of displaced populations and inform policymakers, non-governmental organizations, and relevant stakeholders about the importance of investing in vocational training initiatives.
Ultimately, the study aims to highlight the transformative potential of vocational training in enhancing the livelihoods and overall well-being of internally displaced women. The findings will guide the development of targeted interventions and policies to address the unique needs and challenges faced by this vulnerable population, ultimately promoting their sustainable reintegration into society.
