Abstract:
This study investigates the influence of socio-cultural variables on proneness to lesbianism among female adults in Lagos Metropolis. Lesbianism refers to the romantic or sexual attraction between females, and understanding the factors that contribute to its prevalence is essential for developing effective strategies to promote inclusivity and well-being.
The research adopts a quantitative approach, utilizing a survey questionnaire to collect data from a sample of female adults residing in Lagos Metropolis. The questionnaire is designed to assess socio-cultural variables, including cultural norms, religious beliefs, gender roles, family attitudes, and social stigma, and their potential impact on proneness to lesbianism.
Data analysis involves descriptive statistics and inferential techniques such as correlation and regression analysis to examine the relationships between the socio-cultural variables and proneness to lesbianism. Additionally, qualitative data from open-ended questions provide insights into participants’ lived experiences and perceptions.
The findings of this study will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by shedding light on the complex interplay between socio-cultural variables and proneness to lesbianism among female adults in Lagos Metropolis. The results may inform policies, interventions, and educational programs aimed at promoting tolerance, understanding, and acceptance of diverse sexual orientations within the Nigerian society.
