Abstract:
The prevalence of drug abuse among basic school students in Gwagwalada has become a matter of growing concern in recent years. Addressing this issue requires a comprehensive approach that includes educational interventions aimed at fostering values and promoting awareness of the harmful effects of drug abuse. This abstract explores the contributions of incorporating social studies elements into the National Values Education Curriculum as a means to mitigate the incidence of drug abuse among basic school students in Gwagwalada.

The National Values Education Curriculum serves as a framework for promoting moral, social, and civic values among students. By integrating social studies elements into this curriculum, students gain a deeper understanding of the social, cultural, and historical contexts that shape their lives. This understanding can help students develop critical thinking skills, empathy, and a sense of responsibility towards themselves and their communities.

The social studies elements incorporated into the curriculum include topics such as drug abuse prevention, health education, citizenship, and human rights.
