Abstract:
This abstract provides a summary of a study that focuses on the human resources managerial practices of principals for the implementation of entrepreneurship studies in secondary schools in Anambra State. The study aims to examine the role of principals in facilitating the integration of entrepreneurship education into the secondary school curriculum and the strategies they employ to effectively manage the human resources involved in this process.
Entrepreneurship education has gained significant attention in recent years due to its potential to foster innovation, creativity, and job creation among students. To successfully implement entrepreneurship studies, principals play a crucial role in providing the necessary leadership, support, and resources. However, little is known about the specific human resources managerial practices employed by principals to promote the effective implementation of entrepreneurship education.
The research adopts a qualitative approach, employing interviews and observations to gather data from a sample of principals in secondary schools in Anambra State. The study explores various aspects of human resources management, including recruitment, professional development, performance appraisal, and motivation strategies implemented by principals to support the integration of entrepreneurship studies.
Preliminary findings suggest that principals utilize various strategies to ensure the successful implementation of entrepreneurship studies. These strategies include conducting needs assessments to identify qualified teachers, providing targeted professional development opportunities to enhance teachers’ pedagogical skills in entrepreneurship education, establishing performance appraisal systems to evaluate teachers’ effectiveness, and implementing motivational techniques to promote teachers’ engagement and commitment.
The study contributes to the existing body of knowledge on entrepreneurship education and human resources management in the educational context. The findings will inform policymakers, school administrators, and educational stakeholders about the critical role of principals in fostering entrepreneurship education in secondary schools. Additionally, the study may provide insights into effective managerial practices that can be adopted or adapted by other schools or educational systems aiming to implement entrepreneurship studies.
In conclusion, this study sheds light on the human resources managerial practices of principals in Anambra State regarding the implementation of entrepreneurship studies in secondary schools. The research highlights the significance of effective human resources management in promoting the successful integration of entrepreneurship education into the curriculum.
