Abstract:
This study aims to evaluate the adequacy of the programme objectives outlined in the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) 2012 Minimum Standards for Adult and Non-Formal Education in Nigeria. The NCCE has set these standards to guide the development and implementation of adult and non-formal education programs across the country.
To achieve this objective, a comprehensive review of the NCCE 2012 Minimum Standards document will be conducted. The study will analyze the clarity, relevance, and comprehensiveness of the programme objectives outlined in the document. Additionally, the alignment of these objectives with the broader national educational goals and policies will be examined.
The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, involving both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. Surveys and interviews will be conducted with education experts, policymakers, and practitioners involved in adult and non-formal education in Nigeria. The collected data will be analyzed using appropriate statistical methods and thematic analysis to identify patterns, themes, and trends.
The findings of this study will provide valuable insights into the adequacy of the programme objectives outlined in the NCCE 2012 Minimum Standards for Adult and Non-Formal Education. The research will contribute to the ongoing efforts to enhance the quality and effectiveness of adult and non-formal education programs in Nigeria. The results will inform policymakers and educators about potential areas of improvement, ensuring that the objectives of adult and non-formal education are aligned with the needs of learners and the broader national development goals.
This study is significant as it addresses an important aspect of adult and non-formal education in Nigeria, which plays a crucial role in providing opportunities for lifelong learning and skills development. By evaluating the adequacy of programme objectives, this research can contribute to the overall improvement of adult and non-formal education practices, thereby empowering individuals and communities and promoting socio-economic development in Nigeria.
