THE ADEQUACY OF EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES FOR ENHANCING SKILL ACQUISITION AMONG BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS FOR JOB CREATION IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN ABIA STATE
ABSTRACT
This research project aims to assess the adequacy of educational resources for enhancing skill acquisition among business education students for job creation in tertiary institutions in Abia State, Nigeria. In today’s competitive job market, it is crucial for students in business education programmes to acquire practical skills that enable them to create employment opportunities and contribute to economic growth. This study seeks to evaluate the availability and quality of educational resources, such as infrastructure, instructional materials, and industry partnerships, in supporting skill acquisition among business education students for job creation.
A mixed-methods research design will be employed, utilizing surveys, interviews, and observation techniques to collect data from business education students, instructors, administrators, and industry representatives in tertiary institutions in Abia State. The research objectives include assessing the adequacy of educational resources for enhancing skill acquisition among business education students, identifying the gaps and challenges in resource provision, and providing recommendations for improving resource availability and quality.
The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the adequacy of educational resources for enhancing skill acquisition among business education students for job creation. The research will evaluate the availability and quality of infrastructure, such as classrooms, laboratories, and computer facilities, necessary for practical skill development. It will also assess the provision and utilization of instructional materials, including textbooks, software, and industry-relevant resources, to support skill acquisition. Furthermore, the study will explore the extent of industry partnerships and internships that provide students with real-world exposure and opportunities for job creation.
The implications of this research extend to business education students, instructors, administrators, policymakers, and industry representatives in Abia State. The findings will provide business education students with an understanding of the adequacy of educational resources and their role in skill acquisition and job creation. Instructors and administrators can utilize the research findings to identify gaps and challenges in resource provision and develop strategies to enhance the availability and quality of resources. Policymakers can utilize the research findings to inform policies and initiatives aimed at improving resource allocation and infrastructure development in tertiary institutions. Furthermore, industry representatives can leverage the research findings to foster collaboration, provide input on curriculum relevance, and offer internship opportunities that enhance skill acquisition and job creation
