ABSTRACT

This research project aims to investigate the impact of Microsoft Publisher application competencies possessed by students of Office Technology and Management (OTM) on their self-reliance in Abia State, Nigeria. In today’s digital era, proficiency in office productivity tools is essential for individuals seeking employment or engaging in entrepreneurial ventures. Microsoft Publisher is a widely used desktop publishing application that enables the creation of professional documents, marketing materials, and publications. This study seeks to assess the level of Microsoft Publisher competencies among OTM students, examine the impact of these competencies on their self-reliance, and provide insights to enhance the integration of Microsoft Publisher training in the OTM curriculum.

A mixed-methods research design will be employed, utilizing surveys, interviews, and practical assessments to collect data from OTM students, instructors, and employers in Abia State. The research objectives include assessing the level of Microsoft Publisher competencies among OTM students, evaluating the impact of these competencies on their self-reliance, and providing insights to enhance the integration of Microsoft Publisher training in the OTM curriculum.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the impact of Microsoft Publisher application competencies on the self-reliance of OTM students in Abia State. The research will assess the level of Microsoft Publisher competencies among students, including their proficiency in document design, layout, formatting, and publication creation. It will evaluate the impact of these competencies on students’ self-reliance, examining their ability to create professional documents, marketing materials, and publications for employment or entrepreneurial purposes. Additionally, the study will provide insights to enhance the integration of Microsoft Publisher training in the OTM curriculum, considering aspects such as instructional strategies, practical exercises, and industry relevance.
