Abstract:
This abstract provides a concise overview of the study on administrative strategies for school plant maintenance in secondary schools in Kaduna State, with a specific focus on school budgeting. The aim of the study is to explore effective administrative approaches to ensure the proper maintenance of school facilities and infrastructure in the secondary education sector.
School plant maintenance plays a crucial role in creating an enabling learning environment for students and teachers. However, many secondary schools in Kaduna State face significant challenges in adequately maintaining their facilities due to limited financial resources and ineffective budgeting practices. This study aims to address this issue by examining administrative strategies that can enhance school plant maintenance through effective budgeting.
The research methodology employed for this study is a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. The study includes extensive literature review, interviews with key stakeholders such as school administrators, teachers, and maintenance staff, as well as a survey administered to a representative sample of secondary schools in Kaduna State.
The findings of the study reveal various administrative strategies for effective school plant maintenance, with a specific emphasis on budgeting. These strategies include the establishment of a dedicated maintenance fund within the school budget, regular assessment of maintenance needs, prioritization of maintenance activities, and transparent financial management practices.
Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of collaboration among relevant stakeholders, such as school administrators, government agencies, and community members, in ensuring adequate funding for school plant maintenance. Additionally, it emphasizes the need for capacity building programs to enhance the financial management skills of school administrators and staff.
The implications of the study’s findings suggest that implementing these administrative strategies can significantly improve school plant maintenance in secondary schools in Kaduna State. The results of this study can serve as a valuable resource for educational policymakers, school administrators, and other stakeholders involved in the management of secondary schools in Kaduna State and similar contexts.
In conclusion, this study underscores the importance of effective administrative strategies, particularly in the area of budgeting, to ensure the proper maintenance of school plants in secondary schools. By adopting these strategies, educational institutions in Kaduna State can create a conducive learning environment that promotes student achievement and overall educational outcomes.
