NEW TECHNOLOGY COMPETENCY NEEDS OF BUSINESS EDUCATION LECTURERS IN HIGHER INSTITUTIONS IN KOGI STATE: IMPLICATION FOR CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT
ABSTRACT
This research project aims to explore the new technology competency needs of business education lecturers in higher institutions in Kogi State, Nigeria, and the implications for capacity development. In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, it is crucial for educators to possess up-to-date knowledge and skills to effectively integrate technology into their teaching practices. This study seeks to identify the specific technology competencies required by business education lecturers, assess the current level of competency among lecturers in Kogi State, and propose recommendations for capacity development initiatives to enhance their technology skills.
A mixed-methods research design will be employed, combining surveys, interviews, and observation techniques to gather data from business education lecturers, instructional technology specialists, and administrators in higher institutions in Kogi State. The research objectives include identifying the new technology competencies needed by business education lecturers, evaluating the current level of competency among lecturers, and exploring the implications for capacity development. The study will also investigate the challenges and opportunities associated with integrating technology into business education curricula and gather recommendations for designing effective capacity development programs.
