ABSTRACT

This research project aims to examine the quality assurance practices concerning the teaching and learning of the Business Studies subject in secondary schools in Ilorin South Local Government Area (LGA) of Kwara State. Quality assurance plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of effective and high-quality education. This study seeks to assess the current state of quality assurance measures implemented in the teaching and learning of Business Studies, identify existing challenges, and propose recommendations for improvement in secondary schools in Ilorin South LGA.

A mixed-methods research design will be utilized, combining surveys, observations, and interviews to collect data from teachers, students, school administrators, and education officials in Ilorin South LGA. The research objectives include evaluating the implementation of quality assurance practices in the teaching and learning of Business Studies, examining the level of teacher qualification and training, assessing the availability and utilization of instructional resources, investigating the assessment and evaluation methods employed, and identifying the challenges faced in ensuring quality education in the subject.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the quality assurance practices and challenges associated with the teaching and learning of Business Studies in secondary schools in Ilorin South LGA, Kwara State. The research will assess the implementation of quality assurance measures, such as curriculum alignment, instructional strategies, teacher competence, and assessment practices. It will also evaluate the availability and utilization of instructional resources, including textbooks, teaching aids, and technological tools. Additionally, the study will identify the challenges encountered in ensuring quality education, such as inadequate resources, lack of professional development opportunities, and limited support from educational authorities.

The implications of this research extend to teachers, school administrators, educational policymakers, and stakeholders in Kwara State. The findings will provide valuable insights to teachers and school administrators regarding the current state of quality assurance practices in Business Studies, enabling them to identify areas for improvement and implement evidence-based strategies to enhance teaching and learning outcomes. Furthermore, the study will inform stakeholders about the importance of quality assurance in Business Studies education and the need for collaborative efforts to address the identified challenges.

In conclusion, this research project examines the quality assurance practices and challenges surrounding the teaching and learning of Business Studies in secondary schools in Ilorin South LGA, Kwara State. By evaluating current practices, identifying challenges, and proposing recommendations, stakeholders can work towards improving the quality of education in the subject and ultimately enhance students’ learning outcomes.
