Abstract:
This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of the admission and orientation practices of principals in public and private secondary schools in Anambra State, Nigeria. The research seeks to explore the similarities and differences in the methods and approaches used by principals in the two types of schools during the admission and orientation processes.

The study will employ a mixed-methods research design, combining both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. The qualitative phase will involve semi-structured interviews with principals from a sample of public and private secondary schools in Anambra State. The interviews will focus on understanding the criteria and procedures used for student admissions and the orientation programs implemented by the principals.

The quantitative phase will involve the distribution of questionnaires to teachers and students in selected public and private secondary schools. The questionnaires will assess the perceptions and experiences of the participants regarding the admission and orientation practices of their respective schools. Statistical analysis techniques, such as descriptive statistics and inferential analysis, will be used to analyze the quantitative data.

The findings of this study will provide insights into the similarities and disparities in the admission and orientation practices between public and private secondary schools in Anambra State. The research outcomes will have implications for educational policymakers, school administrators, and other stakeholders in enhancing the effectiveness and equity of the admission and orientation processes.

The study’s significance lies in its potential to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on educational practices and policies in Nigeria.
