Abstract:
This abstract highlights the potential for a resurgence of theatre in Awka, focusing on the concept of spatial flexibility as a means to address the absence of a functional performing art theatre in the city. Awka, a vibrant cultural center with a rich history, currently lacks a dedicated venue for theatrical performances, hindering the growth and development of the local theatre scene. This study proposes an innovative approach that embraces the notion of spatial flexibility to revitalize theatre and provide a platform for artistic expression.
The research draws on existing literature, case studies, and interviews with theatre professionals to explore the challenges faced by the absence of a functional performing art theatre in Awka. It investigates how spatial flexibility can be employed to overcome these challenges and create dynamic performance spaces that adapt to the needs of various theatrical productions.
