ABSTRACT

This case study investigates the planning, execution, and outcomes of Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies for students with learning disabilities in Nigerian educational settings. In light of the growing recognition of diverse learning profiles among students, RTI has emerged as a crucial framework to address the varying needs of learners, particularly those with learning disabilities. The Nigerian educational landscape, characterized by cultural diversity and resource disparities, necessitates a focused examination of RTI implementation in this specific context. Employing a mixed-methods research design, this study combines surveys, interviews, and classroom observations to collect comprehensive data from a purposively selected sample of schools across diverse regions in Nigeria. The research delves into the experiences of students with learning disabilities, their parents, teachers, and school administrators, with an emphasis on the effectiveness of RTI in facilitating academic progress and holistic development. the positive impact of RTI on the educational experience of students with learning disabilities. Notable outcomes include improved academic achievement, heightened self-confidence, and enhanced instructional support. Crucial components of successful RTI implementation include early identification, tiered interventions, and collaborative efforts involving parents, teachers, and specialized educators. this case study provides practical insights and recommendations to fortify the implementation of RTI for students with learning disabilities in Nigerian schools. These recommendations encompass targeted teacher training programs, increased resource allocation, and community engagement initiatives. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of fostering a culture of inclusivity and understanding towards students with learning disabilities within the broader educational community. RTI implemention within the Nigerian educational context, this case study contributes to a growing body of knowledge on inclusive practices for students with learning disabilities. It offers practical insights that can inform policy decisions, teacher training programs, and resource allocation strategies aimed at creating a more inclusive and equitable educational environment for students with learning disabilities in Nigeria.
