Abstract:
The rapid advancement of technology and the increasing demand for energy-efficient solutions have led to the development of smart homes. Smart homes are equipped with various interconnected devices and systems that enable automation, control, and energy management. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) play a crucial role in monitoring and optimizing energy usage within a smart home environment.

This study aims to investigate and implement wireless sensor networks for energy management in a smart home setting. The research focuses on the design, deployment, and evaluation of WSNs to monitor and control energy consumption in different areas of a residential building. The study explores the potential benefits of WSNs in terms of energy efficiency, cost savings, and environmental sustainability.

The implementation of WSNs involves the deployment of sensor nodes throughout the smart home to collect real-time data on energy consumption, environmental conditions, and occupant behavior. The collected data is then analyzed to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in energy usage. Based on this analysis, intelligent algorithms and control strategies are developed to optimize energy consumption and minimize wastage.

Furthermore, the study investigates the integration of WSNs with other smart home technologies, such as home automation systems and energy management platforms. This integration enables seamless communication and coordination between different devices and systems, enhancing the overall performance of the smart home.

To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed WSN-based energy management system, a comprehensive set of experiments and simulations are conducted. Various scenarios, including different occupancy patterns, environmental conditions, and energy demand profiles, are considered to assess the system’s adaptability and robustness.

The results of this study provide valuable insights into the feasibility and benefits of deploying wireless sensor networks for energy management in smart homes. The findings can significantly contribute to the development of energy-efficient solutions for future smart home deployments, ultimately leading to reduced energy consumption, cost savings, and a more sustainable living environment.
