Abstract:
This abstract provides an overview of strategic approaches for enhancing innovative instructional technologies in the teaching of clothing and textiles in Southwest Nigeria. The utilization of technology in education has gained increasing attention due to its potential to enhance teaching and learning experiences. In the context of clothing and textiles education, innovative instructional technologies offer unique opportunities to engage students, promote active learning, and improve the overall effectiveness of instruction.
This study focuses on Southwest Nigeria, a region with a rich cultural heritage and a growing interest in the field of clothing and textiles. The purpose of this research is to identify and explore strategic approaches that can be employed to enhance the integration of innovative instructional technologies in teaching clothing and textiles in this region.
The research methodology will involve a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data will be collected through interviews, surveys, and observation of classroom practices. The study will involve teachers, students, and educational policymakers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current state of instructional technology usage, challenges faced, and potential areas for improvement.
The research aims to identify the key challenges hindering the effective integration of instructional technologies in clothing and textiles education, such as limited access to technology infrastructure, inadequate teacher training, and a lack of awareness about available technologies. Based on the findings, strategic approaches will be proposed to address these challenges and enhance the utilization of innovative instructional technologies in teaching clothing and textiles.
The proposed strategic approaches may include:
Infrastructure Development: Collaborating with relevant stakeholders to improve access to technology infrastructure, including computers, internet connectivity, and multimedia resources in schools and educational institutions.
Teacher Professional Development: Designing and implementing training programs to enhance teachers’ technological skills and pedagogical knowledge, enabling them to effectively integrate instructional technologies into their teaching practices.
Curriculum Enhancement: Updating and adapting the curriculum to incorporate elements that promote the use of instructional technologies, such as digital design tools, virtual simulations, and online resources.
Partnership and Collaboration: Facilitating partnerships between educational institutions, technology providers, and industry stakeholders to leverage resources, expertise, and support for the development and implementation of innovative instructional technologies.
Awareness and Advocacy: Conducting awareness campaigns and advocacy programs to promote the benefits of instructional technologies in clothing and textiles education, targeting educational policymakers, school administrators, teachers, students, and parents.
By implementing these strategic approaches, it is expected that the integration of innovative instructional technologies in the teaching of clothing and textiles in Southwest Nigeria will be strengthened, leading to enhanced learning experiences, improved student outcomes, and a more competitive workforce in the field of clothing and textiles.
