ABSTRACT

This research project explores students’ perceptions of the attitudinal and classroom competencies needed by lecturers for motivating beginners in the field of Office Technology and Management (OTM). The study aims to investigate the specific behaviors, characteristics, and teaching strategies that students believe are crucial for lecturers to possess in order to effectively motivate and engage beginners in OTM courses.

A qualitative research design will be employed, utilizing focus group discussions and interviews to gather data. The research objectives include examining students’ perceptions of lecturers’ attitudes and behaviors that foster motivation, identifying the classroom competencies that students deem essential for effective teaching and learning, exploring the impact of lecturer motivation on students’ engagement and performance, and providing recommendations for enhancing lecturers’ competencies in motivating beginners in OTM.

The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by shedding light on students’ perspectives regarding the attitudinal and classroom competencies necessary for lecturers to effectively motivate beginners in OTM.
