INFLUENCE OF APPRAISAL ON THE QUALITY OF BUSINESS EDUCATION PROGRAMME IN COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN SOUTHEAST NIGERIA
ABSTRACT
This research project aims to investigate the influence of appraisal on the quality of the business education programme in colleges of education located in Southeast Nigeria. Appraisal plays a critical role in assessing and improving the effectiveness and quality of educational programs. In the context of business education, appraisal examines various aspects, including curriculum design, teaching methods, assessment practices, and overall program outcomes. This study seeks to explore the specific influence of appraisal on the quality of the business education programme in colleges of education in Southeast Nigeria, highlighting its strengths, limitations, and implications for program enhancement.
A mixed-methods research design will be employed, utilizing surveys, interviews, and document analysis to collect data from faculty members, administrators, and students in colleges of education in Southeast Nigeria. The research objectives include examining the current appraisal practices used in assessing the quality of the business education programme, identifying the strengths and limitations of these appraisal processes, and proposing recommendations for optimizing the appraisal system to enhance program quality.
The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the influence of appraisal on the quality of the business education programme in colleges of education in Southeast Nigeria. The research will examine current appraisal practices, including the methods used for evaluating curriculum design, teaching effectiveness, and assessment practices. It will also explore the extent to which appraisal processes consider student feedback, industry relevance, and the alignment of program outcomes with the needs of the business sector.
